Outreach and education are integral parts of the Oregon Spotted Frog Recovery Team’s work. We conduct school presentations to ensure that children and youth in the Fraser Valley are aware of the wetland species that are endangered in their own communities, and we work with high school teachers to build local species-at-risk examples and activities into their work plans. Since 2015, we have hired high school students to work alongside biologists to survey for at-risk amphibians in their own communities during Spring Break. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for student job postings each February.

We also train wildlife technicians in amphibian identification and surveying methods, and partner with First Nations groups to build technical skills and inform them about the presence of species in their area.

We participate in community events and meetings, engage with landowners, youth, and the wider community in order to inform, educate and garner support for wetland restoration initiatives.
